Museum of Porcelain was opened in 2003 as the branch
of the Hermitage. It is located on the grounds of St.Petersburg Porcelain
Manufactory, which dates back to 1744 and was named after the Russian
genius Lomonosov in the Soviet time. The most prominent painters and sculptors
created the unique style of the Lomonosov Porcelain, which has become
part of cultural inheritance of Russia. In the museum visitors can see
masterpieces of the porcelain collections of the Russian tsars as well
as articles made on the famous porcelain manufactories of West Europe.
After the excursion you can visit a special shop where various porcelain
things are sold.
Works by modern painters done in different techniques are on display in
the gallery of modern porcelain art. You can buy original things or order
a copy of these unique treasures.
